Okay I was wrong. That was difficult to say. It felt just like Fonzie in ‘Happy Days’, he found it almost impossible to admit that he was wrong, he was hardly able to utter the word…..but you need to be of a certain age to get that reference. What I’m talking about is my comment of last week when I suggested that not many people read my blogs. Well I was inundated by indignant regular readers who put me in my place in no uncertain terms. I apologise unreservedly, and am appreciative that so many of you do take the time to read my ramblings.
However, avid readers, you are going to feel short changed this week, because I am only going to scribble a few lines. It was only a matter of minutes ago that I realised that I am not going to be around tomorrow to put pen to paper. I am going to a music festival in the east end of London all day, and won’t be home until very late tomorrow night, so will not feel like sitting hunched over a keyboard past midnight.
I am meeting my old friend Ian, who is over from the USA, to attend the ‘All Points East’ festival, where we will rekindle memories of days past when we used to regularly go to music gigs together, including annual visits to Glastonbury in the days when tickets were much easier to come by. I haven’t seen him for a few years now, so it will be great to catch up, at the same time as experiencing some good live music and letting our hair down – if only either of us had any!
Following my self-indulgent day out I will have an intensive few days of activity trying to get things in some semblance of order prior to my holiday. We depart early on Saturday for a week on the south coast of Cornwall. At the moment the long range weather forecast is showing rain every day down there! It’s ruddy typical. The warmest driest summer for years, a prolonged period of drought during which I have been begging for rain, and it decides to turn 360° during my solitary week away in the ‘sun’. Oh well, at least it will be a change of scenery (albeit scenery very familiar to me) and an opportunity to do some reading if the worst happens.
The shop is not very well stocked this week, because I don’t want to be left with a load of stuff that will not keep. Hopefully there will be a few bits to interest you. Sorry about the shortage of avocados last week. When they arrived they were much larger than I had anticipated, so fewer per kg. If they are the same again this week a similar situation will arise, from a fear of being left with unsold stock. Unfortunately I don’t think that the next batch of lettuces will be ready to cut, but I will assess them on Monday and will let you know if anything changes. There will be damsons again, Discovery eating apples and cooking apples too.
Right, I need to get to bed. Remember, deliveries are all as normal this week, but I will not be at Wyken on Saturday so there will be no collections from there this week or next.
I will do a nice long blog next time, telling you all about my adventures. Ta-ta for now.
Phil
Have a lovely wet or dry holiday, Phil and I am also a regular reader of your blog – so enough moaning! Have a good time tomorrow and safe travels xx
that was exactly the same as when we went to Mull a couple of years ago. Scotland hadn’t had rain for 6 weeks and they were having wildfires. But the week we turned up in Mull, it rained every day. Lovely for them, they must have felt like i did this week, when we got back from a weekend away and the rain gauge had 27mm in it! but the holiday in Mull wasn’t our best. I hope you have had a bit of sun. Jillian
